This here is a picture of that blonde bombshell , Nellie Belle, pulling Gayle and her uncovered covered wagon. It appears that me, Chuck, and Ramrod laid a solid foundation during her initial training. OK, Gayle gets some of the credit. I just love them blondes!!!!

That Micah won't stop talking.

I was working hard cleaning the stalls the other day and Micah said, " Ain't you getting too old for this crap? "" Well, I reckon I could hire it out", I shrugged. Micah snorted," Don't hire no mooslims!!" " Why not?," I queried. " They might blow up my barn !!!!" ,
he protested. I explained to Micah that all mooslims weren't terrorist , only the radical jihadist.
He then asked me how ya tell 'em apart. I reluctantly told him you can't until they blow something up. He stomped his foot and stated, " You ain't gambling with my barn so you can be politically correct!!!!!" Hell, it's hard to argue with that ol' jack ass.

Big Trail Ride Coming

Jan. 30th---- The Audubon @ Beidler Forest will hold its annual trail ride again right here in my backyard-- Four Hole Swamp. A new part of the trail will go deep into the swamp for those that choose to see if they can be a "swamp fox". If your horse doesn't know how to jump over gators, you might want to take the other trail we will have marked . (Just kidding)

Howdy--its been awhile
The following does not reflect the opinions of any member of the herd, just a dang talking horse.
Well, ya see, I headed over to the barn with vaccinations in hand the other day. When I got there, Micah ( my wonder horse) said," I know you'll be glad when I get that free govment health care." I told Micah that program weren't fer no horse. He snorted back, " I was born here and I got more paperwork to prove it than Obamey!" ( True, True )
After giving him his shot, I turned to go. He snorted, " Wait a minute, then I want to be a supreme court justice."" What the heck are ya talking about?" I hesitantly asked. He said that I heard the other day some politician say that we needed a latino women on the High court cuz we ain't never had one afore ." Well, we ain't never had a horse on there neither! " Boy, it's hard to argue with him!
I'll keep ya'll posted on what Micah says.

Howdy y'all

Hope everybody is enjoying the season of hunting and riding -- (not the season of mingling with relatives that don't do either). Like what am I s'pose to talk about?

I ain't got the picture of the for sale horse yet. Sometimes I'm as slack as the next guy. But I do have a picture of Ebutt on his palomino taken at the barrel races.

Big news! A Hollywood director called me and said that he wanted to make a movie about my hunting experiences. He said it would be called " Black Hog Down". That's a joke son, LOL.

This is just for you deer hunters. I came up with a new plan to nail a deer. I call it "Easter egg hunting". When I first mentioned this to some old timer hunting mates of mine, they laughed and said, "Lordy, Lordy!" Some people are jus old and sot in their ways I reckon. This is how it goes--Find a site for a tree stand (preferably near a deer path) with alot of underbrush -- place small amounts of corn in numerous spots amongst the underbrush. Be sure to have a clean shot to any of the positions chosen. The deer will have to play "Easter egg hunt" and he will think he is out of sight because of the underbrush. You are probably chuckling about this about now. Well the first afternoon I sat, I nailed a five point "playing Easter egg hunt!!!" I know I should charge for this extremely clever hunting trickery- but to you the Herd- no charge amigos.

What in dem woods?

Howdy y'all!

I know all of us have been riding when our trusty steeds seem fearful of sumpin in da woods and we jus don't know what it could be. Well, maybe it was this hogzilla I bagged recently. Lord knows, face to face, hogzilla will make your heart pump kool-aid. So next time this happens, be sure to show your horse a little love because he's whats standing between you and some great big tusks!

Now back to bidness-- one of my campers has a young saddlebred that she must let go of because she is leaving my paradise called Tanager Woods. He needs an exp. rider and for 300 smackeroos he can be yours. I will post a picture of him soon.

Oh by the way-- Me and Chuck went to see his friend Ebutt( Indian for Edward) race barrels at the fair. Ebutt runs in the senior division. So I figured I would check it out to see how fast them old folks race. If dey wuz slow enough, I mite could join em. Great daddy!!!! Dem old coots is as fast as dem youngbloods. So much for that idea.

Now listen up! The Big trail ride is scheduled for Jan. 24th--- for those travelling from afar, there will be camping spaces available Fri and Sat. nites. Sat. lunch( as of now) will be deer( venison ) chile prepared by a local hunt club. More details later.

Now one piece of bidness( that's country for business , at least in my part of the country )
A friend of Chuck's wanted to know if she could be a herder. The bylaws are hard and fast about
becoming a member. You must be a lady or gentleman-- swear that you ain't a horse thief- and do one good deed a month. Tammy, I believe you pass with flying colors. Welcome to the "HERD".

Training Day

Anybody that knows me, knows that I love big beautiful blondes. Oh yeah, that's the ticket. So last Sunday, me and some herders (slang for members of Herd From Us) paid one a visit in Walterboro. There was lots of leather and fun!

Of course I'm talking about big beautiful belgian draft horses. See where you wanted to go!

Me, Ramrod, and Chuck went and visited herder Gayle who is the proud owner of Nellie Bell.

Nellie Bell is a gorgeous 3 yr. old blonde belgian that has yet to trained for her life's mission. After leading N.B. around for a while to ascertain just what we had gotten into, the harness was brought to us in pieces. We put our heads together and studied, pondered, looked at pictures, pondered, studied, and decided to leave it in the capable hands of a South Dakota plowboy. That be Ramrod.

While he searched the deep dark caverns of his memory, me and Chuck placed the headset on N.B. along with the harness saddle and began the arduous task of long reining a ton of horse muscle. She reponded well and after a while she understood gee and haw. The biggest problem was getting Gayle and Chuck to understand gee and haw.

Fortunately for Ramrod, herder Linda showed up and they pieced the puzzle together.

That was enough for one session and we will return another day for round two. Happy Trails!

Since this club is of the cowboys (persons), by the cowboys, and for the cowboys, I am asking for help with a logo that will be internationally identifiable. A logo that relates the kinda
fun loving , yet honorable saddle tramps we are. I, hereby, intrust to you, the members ( see bylaws for qualifications) the monumental task of creating an appropriate symbol for our club,

Howdy y'all,
The other day I started trail working a ten year old marsh tacky gelding I acquired app. 8 mos. ago. Earlier this year, during some ring work, he reared up and landed side ways with a rider. ( that was my first clue). I continued to train him in the ring without mishap. He stayed stiff as a board and always wanted to be near the other horses. He began to soften a little so I decided to trail ride him. Soooooooo.....
We was doing ok while I was checking his want to go back to his buds. Ya see there was this grapevine that I went to in order to partake of its wonderful fruit. I kept checking him and eating grapes. Well..... the next thing I knew I was being vigorous backed into them vines and then he went reared straight up in the air and we crashed to the ground with him laying on my leg. My left shoulder got clobbered upon contact with the ground.( Its still sore ) Heck, I had to miss yoga this week.
He just boarded a trailer for his new home in Hampton. Moral : There are too many good mounts in the world for me to risk injury and death on this dangerously disobedient one.
The older I get, the longer it takes to heal and I ain't gonna take it no more!!!!

Howdy out there- I went to member Chuck 's place to do his horses today. Member Ramrod was there, but his picture didn't take.
This here is Chuck with "Punk". An equine clown is what Punk is. Always a good time to be had.
This is Cocoa checking out a butterfly. The matriarch of the barn.
Here's Maggie, the latest edition. She arrived looking like a POW. The vet had misdiagnosed her problem, but Chuck correctly diagnosed her immediatedly. Her front feet contained abscesses which he successfully treated with betadine,sugar, and epsom salt.

A good inexspensive remedy for thrush is a mixture of bleach and water. (Mostly water) Just spray on or pour on sole, frog, etc. Apply several times a week .
Thrush--- ya know that foul smelling black junk on a horses hoof that can cause major problemos!

Howdy and welcome to our new page. We'd like to introduce you to "Herd from Us", a rag-tag bunch of cowpokes from the Lowcountry of South Carolina.

First order of business:
Herd from Us in association with Audubon South Carolina is planning a big trail ride this January at Francis Beidler Forest. When we figure more out we'll let you know.
